The Aeronautical Society of South Africa presented its 2021 Annual Conference as a virtual event from 18 to 19 October 2021.
The theme for the Conference was “Getting Our Gear Up!”, as an attempt to address the burning questions globally, stemming from the underlying drive towards the post-pandemic road to recovery, especially in international travel, how to sensibly progress towards economic recovery of the aviation business arena, and in the same vein adapt and/or modernise aircraft fleets and reduce impacts of air travel on the environment. The COVID-19 pandemic not only impacted on air operations, but also on the airports’ ground operations and logistics. This of course had severe economic impacts on the airlines and technical support functions alike.
